After the great response to my paint comparison post, I decided to do another. This time, I am comparing metallic paints, which present a tougher challenge to painters all over.

I used many of the same methods as last time- I used bummy “test models” and as much readily available paint as possible. It turned out that I own very little gold OR silver paint, and had to order at least two colors. I ordered gold and silver Reaper colors, but Gold was out of stock. I wound up borrowing the Gold from a generous friend.

[Lo's Lowdown] Paint Comparison - GW vs Vallejo vs P3 vs Reaper Master Series

So, you're a new miniatures player and you need to paint your figs. Or, maybe, you've been around the block a few times, but have limited exposure to the possibilities out there. Or you know what's available, but have never compared. Either way, many folks out there don't know a lot about the differences between the various model companies and their paint lines.

I'm here to give you a brief rundown of the costs, differences, pros, cons and all the other dirty details I can gather for you.

[Lo's Lowdown] Introductions Galore!

My name's Loquacious, and I'm part of what's being lovingly (or mockingly) referred to as "Team Awesome".

What is Team Awesome? It's a bunch of folks that love the hobby, wanting to help make the community better, stronger, smarter, faster... ("we can build it!") or something equally cool like that. We all have something really valuable and interesting to add to the mix here at MWC, and we hope you enjoy what we've got in store for you!

What do I bring to the table? How am I awesome? I'm not the magnet pro, like Lantz. I am not part of a massive super online store, like Justin. I'm not crazy talented in the painting/modeling/conversion/hacking department like Matt or Martin.

Me? I'm Loquacious. I run a blog called World of Wonder and write for the guys over at HOP once a week about being a new 40k Player. While I'm new to 40K, that doesn't mean I don't have serious wargaming props. I came into the hobby the hard way, as a second generation kid learning with the old beardy dudes oft-referred to as grognards. My dad's a hardcore SSI & Avalon Hill player, who taught me ASL and made me weep at those itty bitty chits and all the darn movement. I've played Napoleonics, Historicals, WWII aerial games, Westerns (Desperado, anyone?) and a fair bit of Warmachine/Hordes. I'm more than passing familiar with Confrontation and Malifaux and have finally drunk the 40K Kool-Aid and joined the fray at the FLGS I happen to own.

I've been gaming for over 25 years, with a little experience in a lot of areas. I'll be talking twice a month about some of the cool modeling, painting, conversion and terrain products available on the market.
