Good afternoon everyone,
I'm going to write a bit more about it once the new wings arrive (2x StormRaven Tails), for now though note the shaved and extended tail (I wanted to use the original but it didn't get removed well), the lack of a bulky and unattractive front end through the use of a StormRaven Typhoon Missile Launcher mounted on the chin in place of the AC's turret, (cut narrower with a plasticard housing), The StormRaven Assault Cannons mounted on the engines (spaced out with the HB ammo clip from this kit, shaved down and glued on).
I used the previously tail mounted landing gear in the rear, made a plasticard housing as though it extends from the fuselage. Widened the front landing gears stance by mounting them on the previous weapon mount positions.
What do you think?
That looks MUCH better than the normal ones. Looking forward to seeing this painted.
ReplyDeleteThat looks a whole lot better than the original. Well done.
ReplyDeleteCertainly sleeker; however, I wouldn't mount the assault cannons on the engines like that, as the engines will have to rotate to fire at any degree of a downward angle. That could present a problem, such as a rapid descent...
ReplyDeleteI may do something very similar with the front end and extending the tail. I really like how that looks.
I like it a lot, the small tail extension really does make a big difference! Vast impreovement for sure!
ReplyDeleteawesome sauce! love it!
ReplyDeleteNice - that looks WAY better. Good stuff, man!
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how a slight modification can change the look of a model so much. This is starting to come together, and reminds me of the gunships in G police.
ReplyDeleteLook forward to seeing how the addition of wings changes the model even more.
I hate that the original model is so squished. This conversion actually makes me want to buy one now!
ReplyDeleteWhen I finally get my mitts one one, I was definately planning on relocating the weapons, as that's what makes the whole ting look utterly horrid.. but the tail section extension is also a great improivement, Kudos!
ReplyDeleteyou've made it look pretty and now i'm more confident about snagging a couple :)
This is just great Redscorps, a huge improvement far better looking; I especially like the new positioning of the weapons. Now if only I could use them with my Blood Drinkers :(
ReplyDeleteWay better than the original!
ReplyDeleteI like where you are going. I am not sure about the missile launchers. From the front they are ok, but in profile they look like they are to far back into the body. I think they should have been in line with the upper part of the nose. I am looking forward to see it with the new wings.
ReplyDeleteAgree with Marcus. I like the original, but this blows it away!
ReplyDeleteLove it!
ReplyDeleteNice one!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Mulciber Volcanus regarding the issue with the assault cannons on the tilting engines although I can't offer a better alternative. Other than that it's profile is much improved and is looking much more like Blue Thunder:

Definite improvement! nice work! Looking forward to seeing the end result!
ReplyDeleteAwesome. Did you think of extending the whole fuselage, rather than just the tail? Either way, big improvement!
ReplyDeleteEchoing what everyone else is saying, fantastic improvement on the original. Also agree with volcanus - suggest that you might swap the missile pods and AC: a conventional pattern and not unlike a certain cinematic dropship at that point.
